Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about services, telehealth, in-person sessions, evaluation, and what to expect.

Do you accept insurance?

MalSLP is a private-pay practice. I don’t bill insurance directly. Sessions are paid out of pocket at the time of service.

What ages and conditions do you work with?

I work with children of all ages and adults. Common areas include articulation, language, stuttering, and social communication on the pediatric side, and voice, accent modification, post-stroke aphasia, cognitive-communication, fluency, and professional voice care for adults. If you’re not sure whether what you’re looking for is something I work with, please reach out and ask. I’ll be honest about whether I’m the right fit, and I’m happy to recommend someone if I’m not.

Do you offer telehealth? In which states?

Yes, telehealth video sessions are available for clients located anywhere in California or Colorado, where Mal holds active licensure.

Where do in-person sessions take place?

In-person sessions take place in your home or another agreed-upon setting in the Shasta County, California area.

How long are sessions, and how often?

Session length and frequency depend on what you’re working on, your goals, and your schedule. Most sessions run 30–60 minutes, scheduled weekly or every other week. After the evaluation, we’ll talk through the right cadence together so the plan fits your life.

What does the evaluation process look like?

We’ll start with a brief intake conversation so I can understand what brought you in and what you’re hoping to work on. The formal evaluation is a dedicated session (or sessions, for more complex cases) using a mix of standardized tools, informal observation, and conversation. Afterwards we’ll walk through the findings together and outline a treatment plan you feel good about.

What does it cost?

We’ll talk through specific rates in our first conversation, so you know exactly what to expect before getting started. Evaluation and ongoing therapy sessions are priced separately. I aim to keep costs transparent up front so you can make an informed decision.

How quickly do you respond to inquiries?

I respond to every inquiry within 48 hours.

What states are you licensed in?

Mal is licensed as a speech-language pathologist in both California and Colorado, and holds ASHA Certification (CCC-SLP).
